Water, Wheels & Dreams

I have a little brook at the bottom of the garden and I’ve had big plans for it since we moved in. It’s only tiny really and has little going for it but none the less I’m fascinated.

My ultimate goal for it is to have it power a small water wheel which in turn will drive a generator t charge a pool of batteries. If at that point there is enough power being generated this will then be connected to a timer which will power a lot Watt sump pump from the brook through a irrigation system I will also be fitting.

Here is a Photo and Video of the brook to give you some idea of it’s size and flow. This is at a low point with no rain, when it does rain however (as it does often in England) it gets about 3-4 foot deep and really kicks by. I’ll try to catch some footage when it does.

If the power isn’t sufficient however I will look to subsidise it with either solar or wind or just use it to power a decorative ornament, like a Bamboo Water Wheel or something.

This has fallen incredibly far down the priority list however so don’t expect it to be complete any time soon. On the other hand I will be updating with any info and resources I find a long the way ~ if only for my own future reference
